Carla Thompson

Maternal Health Specialist
Recovery Coach, CARES

My name is Carla, and I am a person in long-term recovery. It has been almost four years since I’ve used any mind-altering substances to change the way I feel. I am truly grateful to work at Freedom Through Recovery, because my journey here has helped shape me into the person I am today. My greatest passion is supporting families with DFCS cases, because I’ve walked that path myself and know how powerful lived experience can be in helping others find hope.

“I want to be ‘that person’ for someone that I once so desperately needed in my life.”

– Carla Thompson

Hazel Royal

Forensic Peer Specialist
Recovery Coach, CARES

Hazel is a woman in long term recovery about to celebrate 3 years without any mind altering substances that kept her in bondage. Today, Hazel walks in complete freedom and dedicates her life to give that same freedom back to so many others like herself. Hazel believes that working at Freedom Through Recovery came full circle for her as she once used the many services offered to stay sober herself.
